Dutch nurse applies for EAUN board membership
In November last year the EAUN sent out an announcement for a new board member and I took the chance to apply. I am Jeannette Verkerk-Geelhoed and I live in the western Netherlands, about 20 kilometers form Rotterdam. I work in a middle-sized hospital in Gouda as senior quality advisor at the Quality and Safety Department. I have a degree in Master of Science Nursing (MSc) since 2009. Before that I worked at the Urology Department from 1998 until 2008 as a nurse.
I am member of the EAUN and the V&VN Urology Nurses since 1998. V&VN Urology Nurses is the National Society of Urology Nurses in the Netherlands and is a part of the National Society for nurses. I am a board member since 2010 and chair since 2011 of the V&VN Urology Nurses.
My motivation for applying as an EAUN board member is to contribute to the development of urology nursing on an international level. I have always enjoyed working in urology and I have focused on the quality and safety of nursing care, especially complex cases such as cystectomy. I have always tried to enhance the quality of the care. I was co-chair of the Dutch guideline bladder instillation, which was presented in 2011. I have also supported hospital professionals in the development of care pathways.
