EAUN24 Awards: Highlighting excellence in urological nursing care

The 24th International EAUN Meeting (Paris, 6-8 April 2024) showcased an extensive scientific programme, but also provided a platform to recognise and honour remarkable individuals who have made significant contributions to the advancement in urological care. Led by Mrs. Paula Allchorne (GB), Chair of the EAUN, the official Awards Session took place on the final day of EAUN24 (Monday, 8 April 2024).

The prize for the Best EAUN Nursing Research Project Presentation was awarded to Ms. Theresa Junker (DK) for her paper titled “The impact of a national goal-directed nurses educational programme on managing intravesical instillation with Mitomycin C or bacillus Calmette-Guérin – a longitudinal mixed-method study exploring the patient and nurses’ experiences and confidence”.

Prizes were also presented for the Best Poster competition in the science-oriented and practice development-oriented sections. Ms. Kathryn Schubach (AU) received first prize for the Best Science-oriented Poster Presentation with the poster titled “To understand supportive care needs among people with non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC)”. Second prize went to Assoc. Prof. Nicole Haneka (AU) for the paper titled “Acceptability of a nurse-led virtual prostate cancer survivorship care model in rural Australia: A multi-methods, single-centre feasibility pilot.”

In the Best Practice development-oriented Poster Presentation category, Ms. Grace Zisengwe (GB) was awarded first prize for the poster titled “Improving support for black men with prostate cancer”. Second prize was awarded to Marc Diocera (AU) for the poster “Telehealth-based pre-operative education session for robot-assisted radical prostatectomy patients – a 2-year follow-up study”.

The awards session concluded with Mrs. Allchorne presenting certificates and expressing her gratitude on behalf of the EAUN for all the dedication and commitment to the hard-work of out-going board members Ms. Franziska Geese (CH), Mr. Jason Alcorn (GB) and Mr. Robert McConkey (IE) in helping to shape the future of the EAUN.
