The 27th International EAUN Meeting will take place in Amsterdam (NL) from 20-22 March 2027, alongside the 42nd Annual EAU Congress (EAU27).  With the scientific programme covering the evolving landscape of urological nursing, the three-day meeting will offer participants the opportunity to explore the latest developments in best clinical practice, patient care, research and professional development through plenary and thematic sessions, expert-led poster tours, practical hands-on training, ESU courses and a dedicated Hospital Visit.

Key urology topics for 2027

Ahead of the meeting, Scientific Congress Office member Ms. Elisabeth Grov Beisland (NO) shares her top picks from the scientific programme, highlighting the presentations she considers essential to attend.

One of her recommendations is the opening plenary session on Saturday 20 March, ‘Frailty: from concept to clinical practice in urology’. The session will focus on understanding frailty and its relevance to clinical practice in urology. In Ms. Grov Beisland’s view, this is an increasingly important topic for nurses working with urological patients.

She also highlights the joint V&VN-EAUN session on the effects of local prostate cancer treatment on incontinence and erectile dysfunction. The session will address the impact of treatment-related side effects and provide an opportunity for nurses to further their understanding of continence and sexual health following prostate cancer treatment.

For nurses interested in research and presenting, Ms. Grov Beisland’s recommends the interactive session on writing an abstract and designing a poster. The workshop will cover how to structure a concise scientific abstract, understand the evaluation process, and develop effective scientific posters.

Ms. Grov Beisland’s is also looking forward to the joint EAUN-EPAG session on understanding the experiences of patients living with urinary catheters (indwelling or intermittent). This session will explore how to better understand and support patients experiencing psychological and emotional distress due to the side effects of prostate cancer treatment.

She also highlights several state-of-the-art lectures, covering nurse-led pathways in localised renal cancer, when a urinary tract infection becomes dangerous, and explaining urodynamics to patients using a new multi-society-endorsed audiovisual resource.
