Bente Thoft Jensen, RN-MPH, PhD-FAAN (DK), Chair

Research Nurse, CNS, Department of Urology, Aarhus University Hospital & Department of Clinical Institute, Aarhus University & Leader of the Prehabilitation Section - Danish Research Centre for Cancer Surgery (ACROBATIC). Bente has been working in urology for 35 years both in Copenhagen and at Aarhus University Hospital, Denmark. In 2015 she accepted a position at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre in New York (US). She has an ongoing interest for developing clinical practice in urological nursing.

Bente has also been involved in innovative educational initiatives such as: ERAS ANP education, the European Bone Health Programme in cooperation with the European Oncology Nursing Society (EONS) and the Skeletal Care Academy (SCA), the online Bone Health course (EAUN), the European Specialist Nurses Organisation (ESNO), and recently, the European School of Urology Nursing (ESUN). Within the EAUN, Bente chairs the Bladder Cancer Special Interest Group and she is a member of the Patient Information Office of the EAU.

Kathryn Chatterton, BSc (Hons) Nursing Studies, Bladder Cancer ANP (UK), Vice Chair

Kathryn Chatterton is a Bladder Cancer Advanced Nurse Practitioner at Guy’s Hospital, London. She is the current Vice-Chair of the EAUN Bladder Cancer Special Interest Group, contributing to the coordination of annual scientific meetings, international webinars, guideline updates, and the delivery of flexible cystoscopy education for European urology nurses. In this role she is actively involved in shaping education, evidence-based practice and collaborative professional development across Europe.

Kathryn’s recent work includes the development of online learning modules in NMIBC, contributions to national bladder cancer care pathways, and co-authoring updates to the 2025 updated BAUN intravesical guidelines. She also supports broader initiatives aimed at standardising bladder cancer nursing practice and improving patient outcomes, aligning with GIRFT.

Her current areas of special interest include the expansion of outpatient blue-light TULA services and the optimisation of ambulatory bladder cancer management. Kathryn is committed to enhancing patient experience, advancing the role of the specialist nurse within urology, and promoting high-quality, evidence-based bladder cancer care.

Willem De Blok, Rn, Ma ANP, CNS urology-oncology (NL)

Retired Clinical Nurse Specialist, Antoni van Leeuwenhoek, AMC Amsterdam, UMC Utrecht, Amsterdam UMC, the Netherlands. Former Board member of EAUN. Member of the Dutch Association of Urology Nurses (V&VN Urologie).

He has worked in the field of urology since 2001. His focus is on all urological oncological treatments but with a special interest for bladder cancer, prostate cancer and robotic surgery.

Willem was co-chair of the guideline group that developed the Dutch guidelines for intravesical instillation of BCG and MMC in NMIBC published in 2012 by the IKNL and the V&VN Urologie. Co-author of the article Safe administration of mitomycin in bladder for cancer: a pilot study. IJUN 2025;19:3.

Nora Love-Retinger, RN, DNP, CNS, CURN, OCN® (US)

Registered Nurse at a National Comprehensive Cancer Center (Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center) for 39 years. Present position is a Clinical Nurse Specialist practising in the department of Urology for the past 24 years. Certified in Urology by CBUNA (Certification Board for Urologic Nurses and Associates) for the past 18 years. OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) certified. A clinical nurse specialist is an advanced degree nurse who influences nursing practice and patient outcomes through consultation, research, education and establishing organizational standards Significant guidelines she has written include:

  • Patient Education for the Care of a Continent Urinary Diversion
  • Care of the Indwelling Foley Catheter
  • Safe Handling of Intravesical Cidofovir

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist she has experience giving intravesical therapy as well as teaching it to new nurses. The Center averages about 400 instillation per year.

Lene Munk, MD, PhD (DK)

Medical Doctor and Postdoctoral Researcher at the Department of Urology, Aarhus University Hospital, and Aarhus University. Lene has worked in urological research and clinical practice for several years, with a particular focus on bladder cancer, intravesical therapy and patient reported outcomes.

She completed her PhD on BCG dwell-time optimisation and symptom monitoring in patients with non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer. Her research interests include improving the safety and quality of intravesical treatment and developing patient-centred tools to support clinical decision-making.

Lene is also involved in translational innovation projects within continence care and contributes to international collaborations in urology and implementation research.

Susanne Vahr Lauridsen, RN, PhD (DK)

Susanne Vahr is a Clinical RN, PhD and work as a senior researcher and associate professor, at the Urology Department, Herlev-Gentofte, Copenhagen University Hospitals and at Copenhagen University. She has worked in the field of urology since 1992 and ben part of EAUN guideline development since 2006.

Susanne is doing research in clinical health promotion with special focus on modifiable lifestyle factors Smoking – Nutrition – Alcohol – Physical inactivity (SNAP) and prevention of catheter-associated urinary tract infections (UTIs) and trauma to the urinary tract.

Susanne is a member of the Danish Association of Urology Nurses, the Danish Nurses Research Council and the EAUN Bladder Cancer Special Interest Group.

Special interests: Clinical health promotion, the patient perspective, to improve outcomes, and implementation of current guidelines.

Giulia Villa, RN, PhD (IT)

Registered Nurse, PhD in Nursing Sciences and Public Health. She has worked in the field of urology since 2005 as Clinical RN and Head Nurse at the Urology Department of San Raffaele Hospital, Milan. She has worked as lecturer and since 2021 she is an Assistant Professor in Nursing Science at Vita-Salute San Raffaele University, Milan, Italy.

Her main activities are research and education. She is doing research in ostomy and incontinence. She is a member of several national and international associations.

Special interests: ostomy, urinary diversion, bladder and prostate cancer, UTI, nutrition.
